Matthieu Ricard is a Buddhist monk, author, translator, and renowned photographer. He is the author of several books including The Monk and the Philosopher; The Quantum and the Lotus; Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill; and Why Meditate?, in addition to five photography books. His new book, Altruism presents a global vision and roadmap for the 21st century, based on decades of personal experience and insight.
Jeffrey D. Sachs is a worldrenowned professor of economics, leader in sustainable development, senior UN advisor, bestselling author, and syndicated columnist whose monthly columns appear in more than 80 countries. Prof. Sachs serves as the Director of The Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor of Sustainable Development, and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University. He is Special Advisor to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He is Director of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Prof. Sachs is also co-editor of the World Happiness Report.
